Windows Live / MSN Messenger 8.0

A new build of Windows Live Messenger 8 is now available to all Windows Live Messenger users (BETA Testers and Invitees): Build 8.0.0566!

This new build or 'refresh' contains a lot of improvements to the User Interface, including color schemes, icons and re-positioned controls which result in a much cleaner Messenger interface.

The Add a Contact dialog has also had a makeover. This is one of the few dialogs that has remained the same over the past few years, but now its finally been re-done.

This build of Messenger also boasts a brand new Messenger Buddy Icon, which looks way better than the (weird) 'fat' icons that were present in all the pre-8.0.0566 Windows Live Messenger builds!

Other changes to this build of Messenger:

  • Windows Live Contacts are now available
  • Color schemes now affect the whole contact list window, not just the header
  • Contact lsit sorting reverted back to alphabetical order

Although the status icons in this build have been reverted to the old MSN Messenger 7 Icons, we have been promised fresh new icons for the next Messenger build!
