According to a study by IDC, instant messaging in the business world is rising rapidly and looks set to continue its huge growth, but experts are warning of security risks associated with the growth. Security is a major concern since as much as 50% of companies utilizing IM do not have IM administration in place.
Businesses are sending out close to 1 Billion Instant Messages each day in 2005. This usage rate is expected to skyrocket for many years to come.
This growth is due to many domestic IM users, such as those of MSN Messenger, bringing IM usage to the work place and using it as a business tool.
